Airports of Thailand launches biometric system at six airports
Airports of Thailand (AOT) has rolled out a new automated biometric identification system across six airports to enhance customers experience.
The biometric system, powered by Facial Recognition technology, is set to provide a quick, convenient and secure process for passengers at the six AOT-operated airports, a press release available on official online newsroom of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said.
The airports featuring the new system are Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai, Phuket and Hat Yai.
Starting from 1 November 2024, domestic travellers can initially use the system. This service is expected to be extended to international passengers beginning 1 December 2024.
Passengers can register for the biometric system at check-in counters or Self-Check-In Kiosks (CUSS).
At the counter, airline staff will assist in capturing facial and travel document data as a Token using the CUTE boarding pass reader.

Alternatively, passengers can use CUSS kiosks for check-in, select their airline, opt for ‘Enrolment,’ scan their boarding pass barcode, insert their passport or ID, and complete their registration with a facial scan.
Once registered, passengers’ biometric data will be used for that specific journey, allowing them to bypass traditional passport or boarding pass checks at various stages, including baggage drop, security checks and boarding.
This consent-based system aims to streamline the entire airport experience.
The integration of this biometric technology with existing passenger processing systems such as CUTE, CUSS, CUBD (automated baggage drop), PVS (Passenger Validation System), and SBG (Self-Boarding Gate) ensures a seamless flow through these airports.
