Collaboration on touch and fingerprint technology

According to both companies the collaboration is intended to improve security, performance, and user experience in an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.

The agreement combines Synaptics’ expertise in human-interface solutions with Qualcomm’s leadership in compute and biometric security. Together, the companies plan to deliver integrated systems that simplify design for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and accelerate time-to-market for products featuring advanced touch and fingerprint capabilities.

Industry analysts forecast strong growth in flexible OLED displays, predicting shipments will rise from approximately 600 million units in 2025 to more than 800 million by 2030. Synaptics’ touch solutions and Qualcomm’s 3D Sonic fingerprint technology are designed specifically for OLED panels, enabling seamless integration and supporting next-generation mobile innovation.

Beyond mobile platforms, the partnership extends to AI-powered PCs, where passwordless authentication and secure user experiences are becoming essential. By combining Synaptics’ AI-ready sensing technologies with Qualcomm’s compute and biometric capabilities, the companies aim to deliver intuitive, secure interactions while reducing design complexity for PC manufacturers.

Synaptics also offers its Natural ID fingerprint solutions, which incorporate advanced encryption and secure biometrics for applications requiring strong security and ease of use.
